Plymouth JR ABA travel teams

In the 1965-1966 seasons with Jim Buckler President, the All-Star program was expanded under the direction of Thomas Lees and Wayne Montgomery.  The “star” program increased the opportunity for boys to complete with other youngsters from Delaware Valley.  The “All-Stars” met with instant success and today continue to be an integral part of the Plymouth program.

It was during this year (1969-1970) Plymouth, as defending champions, hosted the National Junior ABA tournament. The tourney was an exciting addition to a basketball rich community and which saw a team from Jersey City, led by Mike O’Koren (N. Carolina U.) defeat host Plymouth, Augusta, GA and Ridley, PA to capture the championship. This same Jersey City team the year before was led by Jim Spanarkel (Phila.76ers).  Jersey City lost to Plymouth Jr. ABA, 60-47, as Plymouth won the National Jr. ABA championship in the 1968-1969 seasons.

For the 2004 and 2005 season Plymouth JR ABA has 12 All Star teams ages 8 to 13. This year both the 12A and 11A team will compete in the International Biddy Tournament. The 12A team will travel to New Orleans and compete in the post Mardi Gras Biddy tournament. The 10A and 12A teams will go to Lebanon.
